Me at Montreal Airport right before leaving.

So it’s been 4 days since my trip began and I arrived in Playa Del Carmen Mexico. I have to admit on the couple of days before I arrived I was a bit nervous about about the start of my trip but upon arriving that all quickly dissipated.

I’ve done nothing but hang out on the beach with new friends and party into the night for the past 4 days, just going with the flow and I have to say

I’m having the time of my life!

Me on beach in my new Gringo hat haha

With everything that has happened in my life recently  I have to say I am the happiest I have been in a long time.I love this care free go with the flow lifestyle.

After arriving in Cancun I epicly battled my way through the swarms of people trying to sell me tours and got the ADO bus to Playa Del Carmen (Only $14).

I’m staying at Hostel Che and although I was a little bit down about it when I arrived as the roof top bar is under renovation and closed. The atmosphere here is really chill and laid back plus having free breakfast with eggs every morning is great.

Between that and daily Walmart expeditions and cheap street food I’ve managed to only spend $2-4 (USD) on food each day.

Juice for 10 pesos and 3 pieces of fried chicken for 24 pesos Total ($2.73 USD)

Don’t worry I havent just been eating fried chickenm, I’ve also had some  traditional Mexican foods such as carne asada at a small street side restaurant which tasted amazing and for 55 pesos($4.4) including a drink it was a bargain.

Budget wise it’s been easy to keep on track food and accommodation wise as I’ve generally been spending less than $20 a day.

But then comes the drinking…

Me “Drinking Responsibly” at Hostel Rio Playa roof top bar

I thought the epic amount of partying I was doing on my trip to Los Angeles and San Francisco was intense, but in Playa Del Carmen its “Off the hook”. I’ve spent the last 4 days lounging around on the beach drinking buckets of corona and hitting up the clubs in the evenning. I never really thought I was a beach person but I’m quickly becoming one. All I need now is the tan to match it. 😀

My days on the beach feel like a Corona commercial

After each day at the beach getting tanned (Or sunburnt in my case) I have been hanging out with other travelers at a nearby party hostel Rio Playa as they have a roof top bar.

It’s taken a bit to get used to how late the night life starts here, Most people don’t go out till 10-12 at night and all of the clubs don’t close till 6am.

Also like Los Angeles and San Francisco, it’s once again alcohol that is solely responsible for blowing my daily budget out of the water. The only saving grace is that drinks here are ridiculously cheap.  I’ve been drinking Corona’s for roughly 20-40 pesos each ($2-3.20 USD) and I even had a liter of Pina Colada for 80 pesos ($6.40)

I love my new Gringo straw hat.

I’m really loving this care free laid back lifestyle in Playa and as much as I want to just spend the next 2 weeks bumming on the beach and partying. I think it’s time to move on.

A few of us have rented a car for tomorrow and we are going to see Chichen Itza.(See look I do other things besides drinking and lounging around). Then its off to Tulum to check out the awesome ruins and beaches before going to Caye Caulker in Belize for more beaches, snorkeling relaxing.

It’s a tough but someone has to do it.

Playa Del Carmen is such a wonderful place! Been there 3 times as well, and it’s drnefieft every time I go back. Have you been down to Tulum yet? I seriously want to move there. Must learn Spanish, but at least there are lots of Starbucks 🙂
