Before I get started. No I haven’t been doing crack in Ireland. The term craic is used in Ireland to say something was enjoyable. So for example when I say “All the food I have been having in Ireland is good craic” that means it was really enjoyable.

Sophisticated Irish Brendon

In Ireland I am sophisticated haha

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 2 weeks since I landed on Ireland’s shore’s. In my last post “My Blogtastic Ireland Travel Plans” I discussed how my trip to Ireland was not going to be my conventional low budget street food eating, hostel dorm room sharing, backpacking experience that I am usually accustomed to.  I have had catered and restaurant lunches for 90% of my meals here in Ireland and while my wallet may be giving me a perpetual sad face, my taste buds and stomach are definitely giving me a high five.

This week I would like to share with you some of the amazing  “fancy” dishes I have been gorging myself on in the past week. As I have been eating ALOT of food I have decided to break it up into two parts. This week it’s all about the seafood

Fish & Chips are really big here in Ireland and I think I must have had fresh fish and chips at least 5 times since I’ve been in Ireland

I had this delicious bowl of clam chowder at “The Grainne Uaile Pub”

On the first day of my trip around the Wild Atlantic Way West with Failte Ireland we got to stop off at the Mulranny Park Hotel  in Mulranny for a delicious sample of the local seafood. First on the list was oysters, Having never tried oysters before I was curious on what lay in store for me.

Trying Oyster's at Mulranny Hotel

Me losing my oyster virginity. You have to close your eyes to experience the full might of the oyster haha

Thenext round of seafood was at Zetland Country House Hotel in Connemara, where along with some whisky tasting we got to sample some scrumptious local seafood from the Connemara region.

Cliffden’s Killary Harbour Mussels

I don’t think i’ve ever eaten so much seafood in my life, and that’s coming from an Australian, we live off the stuff.  It’s going to be really hard to go back to my cheap budget street food eating way’s after having sampled such fine seafood here in Ireland.

Stay tuned for next week where I will be talking about all the other mouthwatering meals I have been having in Ireland, Including the many many Irish breakfasts.

I still have 4 day’s left in Ireland, Is there anything that I HAVE to try before I leave?

Just a note on the craic! You wouldn’t really use ‘craic’ to describe food, it is more about having a good time, a laugh, getting up to ‘divilment’ in general 🙂 Glad to hear you are having lots of it there, hope you enjoy your last couple of days. If you can you should go to see some live music, but try to avoid touristy trap music, have a blast!!!

Oh ok that’s good to know. I obviously still need more time in Ireland to master my usage of the word craic haha.

I’ve seen a bunch of local live music in Galway the last few day’s has been amazing.

I have always wanted to travel to Ireland. The fish and chips and clam chowder look mouthwater! I go to the local Irish pub for both – but I’m sure the real thing is so much better. I will have to save my pennies.
